Endovenous Laser Treatment (Varicose Vein Procedure)
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) is a quick, minimally
invasive procedure for varicose veins that leaves no scar and
is performed in the Bryan Radiology Associates office. The
treatment takes several hours from beginning to end. A pre-
EVLT ultrasound is performed to ensure that the varicosities
are associated with reflux of the greater saphenous vein and
requires several post-treatment follow-up ultrasounds.
EVLT uses targeted laser energy to seal the vein shut. The laser
energy damages the vein walls, shrinking them and closing
the faulty vein so that the blood cannot flow through it. This
eliminates the vein bulging at its source.
Scheduling: EVLT procedures are performed on Friday
afternoons with pre and post-EVLT ultrasounds scheduled from
8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday through the central scheduling
department at 979 776-0929.
