Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
uses a strong magnetic field and radiofrequency waves to take clear and detailed pictures of internal organs and tissues.

The Toshiba 1.5T MRI at Bryan Radiology Associates is one of the shortest bore and widest aperture MRI’s on the market with the added benefit of being able to scan patients up to 450 lbs. It also includes Toshiba’s patented “Quiet” technology that significantly reduces the noise associated with this exam as well as embedded coil technology which reduces the length of the exam and allows many exams to be performed feet first. These factors will significantly reduce claustrophobia and improve patient comfort for many MRI procedures.

All patients 65 years old or older, or patients with a history of renal disease must have a documented recent (14 days or less) plasma creatinine before a MRI contrast exam can be performed.

Breast MRI exams and MR breast biopsies can also be used to better examine cancers found by mammograms or for women who have a high risk of breast cancer. DynaCAD is a digital imaging workstation with computer-aided detection (CAD) tools that is used at Bryan Radiology Associates to analyze and process breast MR and biopsy images. DynaCAD also assists our radiologists in producing additional diagnostic information, streamlining workflow, increasing speed of interventional planning and improving diagnostic confidence.

Scheduling and Preparation: MRI exams may be scheduled through our central scheduling line at 979-776-0929. Examination appointments are available until 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Our scheduling representative will review any special instructions or preparation required for the examinations.
